CONGRATULATIONS TO LOIS METZGER!
Lois Metzger was recognized by the Collinsville Junior Service Club at their May 3rd meeting for 50 years of active membership in the Club. She is the third member to be named a Lifetime Active Member and installed her third Junior Service Club President at the May 3rd meeting. Lois is one of Collinsville’s best ambassadors, mascots, and always presents Collinsville in its very best light.
According to those who are fellow members of the Club, Lois’ commitment to the Junior Service Club is shown as she has manned a booth or an activity at every Junior Service Club sponsored event over the last 50 years. She is a wonderful hostess at events, is very good at recording club history through scrapbooks and photos, and has used her talents on the publicity, newsletter and telephone committees. Her involvement in one of the Club’s cookbooks gave good press to Collinsville as her “Aunt Irene’s Divinity” was published in the The Best of Illinois Cookbook.
Lois’ civic involvement does not stop with the Junior Service Club. You can see her at most Collinsville High School Kahok basketball games as her and husband Bill have been regular season ticket holders for many years. Lois was recognized for her Kahok loyalty during senior night this past season. She is also an active member of the Friends of the Collinsville Museum and Library and a member of Collinsville Progress.
Lois also serves on the City’s Historic Preservation Commission where she researches information that qualifies homes and buildings in Collinsville as registered landmarks. Lois, as well as the other members of the Historic Preservation Commission, are currently working on the restoration of the DD Collins House on Main Street.
Lois is an active member of First United Methodist Church and supports her husband, children and ten grandchildren.
Citizens like Lois are a great asset to the community. We congratulate her and thank her for all of her service.
