On Thursday, December 30, 2010, at approximately 0324 hours, and Sunday, January 2, 2011, at approximately 0148 hours, the Collinsville Police Department responded to burglar alarms at Raqqa Food Mart, 1316 Vandalia Street, Collinsville, Illinois.  On both occasions the suspects used a large stone to break through the plate glass doors before unlawfully entering the business and stealing an undetermined amount of United States Currency (USC), alcohol, and cigars.

While the Collinsville Police Department was investigating the burglaries, responding officers reviewed surveillance images of the suspects.  The surveillance footage revealed what appeared to be two juvenile males committing both burglaries.

On Sunday, January 2, 2011, Collinsville Police Department Officer Mark Kuechle was driving to work when he observed two juvenile males wearing the same clothing as the suspects were wearing during the burglary committed at 0148 hours that same day.

Officer Kuechle requested the assistance of other Collinsville Police Department personnel and detained the juvenile suspects at approximately 1720 hours.  Following interviews with the juvenile offenders, the Collinsville Police Department determined that the duo was responsible for both burglaries.  Both cases will be forwarded to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office Juvenile Division.
