Building Permits and Inspections
While most improvements require a building permit, minor repairs valued at less than $500 may not require a permit.  Electrical and plumbing work is regulated by the State and requires inspection and approval.  Please see the list of permits below to determine which type you need. Complete the application and bring it to the Community Development Department with payment for review and issuance. If you are unsure which permit you need, or if you have questions regarding when a permit is required, contact Kim Wasser at 618-346-5200 x1126 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Failure to obtain a building permit may result in citation or fines so be sure to call if you are unsure.

Please see the list of required inspections before you begin your project.
