The City of Collinsville operates a water treatment plant at 1800 St. Louis Road that is staffed by State of Illinois licensed water plant operators. The city produces drinking water from wells which is softened, filtered and disinfected prior to being pumped to the distribution system. Maximum pumping capacity at the plant is 5 million gallons per day, with an average daily demand of 3 million gallons per day. Six wells, a 1 million gallon storage tank, and a 500,000 gallon clear well are on site at the St. Louis Road facility. The City has two 500,000 gallon elevated storage tanks located on Clay Street and Beltline Road. In 2011, the City added a 2 million gallon storage tank located on Branch Street.
The water distribution system is comprised of 180 miles of water main, 1,300 fire hydrants, 1,800 valves and approximately 11,700 service connections. The water plant and the water lines division are committed to the continuous flow of safe drinking water and outstanding service to the citizens of the community.
