Per a conference call with the National Weather Service -- A two prong approach of snow and cold temperatures with wind chills of -25 to -30 below zero. Wind will be 15-20mph with gusts of 30mph on Sunday. This will lead to drifting issues on roadways and severe visibility reduction due to the snow being the light/dry kind versus heavier wet snow, a near blizzard event. No ice is expected with this event. Roadway travel will be a significant safety issue for all motorists.
At this time snowfall in excess of 10” is predicted within region eight, some lesser amounts in the northern portion of the region (if 9” + is considered lesser).
Start time will be during late afternoon on Saturday but really picking up overnight into Sunday afternoon.
